Matt Bellamy's lyrics are not for everyone and he's no genius but there are usually lyrics in every album that I like or I can get a kick out of.

The lyrics on here for the most part are bad, but I will admit that I think the Uprising lyrics are among Matt's best. I remember when I first heard USE when it came out, I literally laughed thinking 'wtf is this ****?'. But Matt's voice really makes up for all his bad lyrics. Like on Micro Cuts (one of my favorite Muse songs) I have no idea what the hell he's saying but his voice makes up for that, kinda like how most people feel with Sigur Ros. Or on the first part of Exogenesis he just sings "I can't forget you" over and over. For most singers this would sound very boring but with Matt's it sounds deeply emotional.

I'm actually kinda disappointed with the lack of guitar tracks on the new record, I distinctly remember Matt saying he'd been working on a lot of sweet riffs for this album. But like I said before he's a great pianist and probably a better one than he is guitar player. I think it'd be great if he did a solo album that was just him playing piano. I don't really understand the hate for the album's sound. They've obviously been pushing towards this sound since Absolution.

Muse - Absolution - Review - Stylus Magazine

"Muse is one of those odd bands in that far more actively hate them than are indifferent, and yet few actually love them."

"Although track 12 of Absolution copies “Everything in Its Right Place” so blatantly, it was probably to encourage the Muse fans out from their rooms for the first time in years."

"They probably also write the same way Muse write which is the same way Metallica write, i.e. just compiling bits of ‘music’ then sticking them together, except they’re more impressed with their fragments (though they’re simpler and duller and even more remarkably similar to each other than Metallica’s), so they make them go on longer and repeat them more times."

/facepalm

Im totally digging The Resistance's first two songs, then it kinda goes down hill up until MK Ultra and downhill again.

It's not exactly Absolution but its a decent album all in all.

The few tracks I have heard in recent days had me feeling kinda "meh", which is disappointing as I was just starting to take to them...

Love them. Am I the only one who thinks that The Resistance is not as good as their previous job?
I loved the album though, especially Uprising.

I just watched VMA to see their presentation. It totally worthed! :tramp:

Anybody else think their VMA performance was pretty lackluster? Matt seemed like he didn't want to be there (but who could blame him, its the VMAs). The one part where he ran outside while soloing seemed like they told him to do it at the last minute. And I thought it was real dickish oh MTV to tease us with 6 seconds of Starlight. But alteast the band has finally gotten some American screen time. Hopefully with the release of the new album will allow them to play on other programs, like SNL or Late Night with Conan O'Brien or something.

Muse is an amazing and completely original band. They are so versatile its ridiculous, with a singer whos vocal talents are phenominal. Butterflies and Hurricanes is my fav by them, but they have soooo many good songs. Im actually gonna catch them in Dallas in October when they open for U2!

I didnt see it but havent Muse done the VMA's before? Or was it just the european ones or something?

The VMA performance was ok... nothing mindblowing... I kinda wish they chose something a little more spectacular, like Knights of Cydonia or something to really "wow" the crowd with their inherent awesomeness... but what they did was just sorta ok.
