hahahahaha, I'd like to make it clear I don't think Muse and KoL are in any way musically similar.

Exogenesis turned out to be quite dull. There was the one cool part in the Pt. II where the whole band came in, something about sending people away from Earth, but all-in-all there's a lot more interesting contemporary orchestral music to be heard :\

I'm getting the impression that some of the lyrical ideas are great, but mybe the music is a bit lacklustre and not as interesting as their previous stuff...

The lyrics are pretty weak on the new album actually in my opinion. Especially on stuff like United States of Eurasia and Unnatural Selection. The latter is a pretty decent track musically but certainly not lyrically. Matt Bellamy's lyrics are not for everyone and he's no genius but there are usually lyrics in every album that I like or I can get a kick out of.

I couldn't disagree more about Exogenesis, KH. Sure there might be better orchestral music out there but Muse are in reality a pop group. Sure they have their uncommercial moments amonst their radio friendly singles but Exogenesis is a fairly ballsy move for a band with their commercial appeal. I think it's a wonderful track.

To be honest I haven't really made an effort to even get my hands on this album after such poor reviews from you guys. I heard bits of it air-played on a radio station here today... it really didn't appeal to me I don't think. I guess I'll give it a proper listen in time.

I've listened to it about 7 times now. It has its moments, it's not all bad and there are some good tracks on it.

I'm giving it another listen right now. Getting quite into it now. Not sure if I'm forcing myself to like it or if it's naturally a grower, but whatever.

I listened to it a couple of times now and still don't really get into it. As I was afraid they've taken the rock opera thing way too far this time. Some parts are obviously Queen inspired but don't come out great. Some songs aren't all that bad but I notice that halfway the album I'm quite done with the bombastic sound and same tricks all over again. I liked everything they did so far although I think their first couple of albums are definitely best. Pretty disappointing album I think.
