Oddly enough I really dig Blackholes but I CAN'T STAND Origin of Symmettry.
|
I owned their first album at one stage, but I think I traded it in when I was broke one summer and I really wanted to go out and see a movie...
|
Their first album is easily their worst, in my opinion. For me it goes:
1. Origin Of Symmetry 2. Black Holes And Revelations 3. Absolution 4. Showbiz |
OOS, oh where did you steer wrong?
It's OOS > Absolution > Hullabaloo (not counting CD2) > Showbiz > BH&R I mean, I at least like every song Muse has ever done besides Forced In off Hullabaloo, but BH&R has pound for pound the least songs I outright adore and the most songs I feel 'meh' about in their whole repetoire. EDIT: I just read it and realized how convoluted that sentence was xD |

On a side note, Absolution bests pretty much all Muse albums in sequence. Song for song, though, not so much. Hullabaloo was dissapointing for me, I would probably rank it slightly above Showbiz but not too great. That being said, it has some amazing song, and a few tracks that I really think should've made Origin. In fact, if they has swapped out some of the lesser Hullabaloo tracks with Futurism, Dead Star, and Piano Thing, then I think it could've easily been a disc 2 to OOS. In regards to Showbiz...eh. Some fantastic songs, to be sure (Showbiz, Sunburn, Falling Down, Muscle Museum, Unintended), but more lows then the other discs (Overdue, Sober, Fillip). It just sounds very amateurish, and they let their influences who far too much. You can really really feel the Radiohead and Nirvana influences here, wheras later they would gain their own sound which I, personally, like better. Also, there were a couple b-sides (Spiral Static, Agitated) which best many of the album tracks. Anyway, that's just my opinion. |
I like them.
Matt Bellamy is a very good guitarist, Dom is an exceptional drummer. They're one of those bands where they're either your cup of tea or they aren't. I think the live at Wembley DVD just shows what a class band they are. |

oh, and for me, i love OOS, soooooooo good |
TBH the only thing I love about Muse is Matt Bellamy. He is an amazing pianist.
|
He can play, for sure, but i really don't like his singing... he sounds like he is rising out of water after he's been under too long with those deep gasps for air he always takes...
