I suppose Porcupine Tree are most popular with people who tend to download and so their music never seems to sell well and those who aren't prepared to look for their music but do buy chart stuff never come across them.
That made so much more sense in my head. |

I think Muse's main dropkick into the centre of attention was with their new album and the singles that came with it. That bred heaps of fans who have never heard anything older than Black Holes and Revelations. PT can do no wrong. |
I think Time Is Running Out had a bigger effect on their popularity than anything from Black Holes & Revelations but I can only talk about the UK here.

But I'm only speaking from NZ terms. Muse has always been popular here, but it seems like Muse has been in the top 3 bands listened to in NZ (on last.fm) ever since their new album. |
Porcupine Tree never had a Nescafe ad.
Question solved |
Well Time is Running Out is the first song I heard from them, heard it on the radio a while back.
And that's what got me a bit interested in them. After that song was played a few times, a lot of other people in my area started to listen to them. |
I just skipped to the end of this, so maybe someone said this already...but ive heard alot ABOUT Muse, but never knew where to start off.....Which album should i get as a good...like...introductory album?? if that sounds nerdy enough

haha thanks man i'll check them out

I wish they'd get a greatest hits album out for people in your position. I think it's best to take a couple of songs from each album when you're just starting out. Just to see what they're capable of, I suppose. And when you've got a nice sample you can find your favourite stage in their career straight away.
