Great album. What I really love about this release is how they use the piano. It's certainly an essential instrument, but its presence is very minimal and reserved for specific melodies and hooks that often repeat with some variation. The real focus is on the singer's voice, which is insanely emotional and enthralling to listen to. I'm eager to see where this band goes in the future. (I couldn't find the album version of this song. The live version doesn't have piano, which is really important to the sound of the band IMO) |

I tried their album and decided that I mainly liked 27 strangers and becoming a jackall.
And that's exactly one 7" single, which I've bought

Becoming A Jackel is a really good album. I feel like i've under-listened to it though so i should really dig it out and listen to it a bit more. I've seen Conor's previous band The Immediate live and they were really good, worth checking out if you love Villagers.

And with another cup of tea in front of me I see things similarly.
(how cheesy). I still mainly like those two songs. But I've tried

This one might as well be a Villagers song. They used to swap around their instruments and share lead vocal duties and stuff. Conor would play either guitar or drums. They had a lot of potential and could have been big, but who knew that Conor would get that successful with Villagers.
