Sounds like they're having a lot of fun, but the music itself? Not sure...
They're definitely not intended to be taken seriously.

Then that's my problem. I can't ever get into music that shouldn't be taken seriously.
Still, I don't want to leave you on the farm has an incredibly beautiful melody

Well that's the great thing about Ween, they're irreverent, sarcastic, raunchy... and incredible, eclectic pop songsmiths.

This is so true. Then again, they ace every genre they cover.

And they're so awesome live... probably the most fun I've ever had at a show. I hope you enjoy it!

Edit: I had to post some songs too.

You're too right! By the way, that's exactly what I did with the playlist, but unfortunately Spotify is not available everywhere.

You know what? I'm gonna cook up a mixtape and upload it here for educational purposes!

And regarding their seriousness; I'd say that the music they perform is definitely serious (most of the time), but that's the thing about them that makes them so great - ambiguity. Are they kidding? Well, with a song like "Waving my d i c k in the wind" it's obvious that they are, but with songs like "Spinal meningitis" in which they imitate a hospitalized child pleading to his ma? Well, they obviously aren't serious about it, but they sure as hell aren't joking either.

I guess that's where meaning is taking over from music.

No, you're doing it wrong. The meaning is the music.

Hold on, I've just put together their most accessible songs and will post a link in a moment.

Very welcome. I won't listen to it right now (it's 3am here ), but I will soon.
It's not that I really mind music that's not very accessible, I just don't get what's so interesting about Ween's music. And I mean the music. Not the lyrics, not the meaning, the music.

I think for most people it's the eclecticism of it. The write folk songs, they write cock rock songs, they write psychedelic songs, they write 70s-style pop songs, they write odd experimental type songs, hell they even made an entire album of country songs. And somehow they manage to make it all work together in a weird way.
