I'm not a huge fan of Cake, but after hearing "Sick of You", I'm pretty excited.

this thread breaks my heart. Audience participation is bad? Yowza.

Cake is one of the most underrated bands going. I see them everytime they're in town.

Do they do a good live performance? I'm seeing them in two weeks, but some bands don't translate to stage like others, no matter how much I love them.

Downloading. Single is a bit too simple for me. Good radio tune, but that's it.
Wonder what the album is like.

You're going to want to know the songs, because its a highly involved show for the audience. I love them live.

hey now, don't go and generalize my statement. i just don't like it when artists rely to heavily on it to make their performance.

Skye from Morcheeba is one of the worst, she pulls the crowd into half of the songs she puts on. i pay to hear her sing, not to hear her try to get the audience to sing...

back on topic, i listened to the new Cake after i downloaded it, but i don't remember a single track, and have not picked it up again. not a good sign...

To me, they do. I mean, whichever one of you said that you pay to hear them sing, not half the crowd singing along, you have a point there. But then again, there's a certain charm to being that comfortable with the audience, y'know?

Plus, since they don't use anything to clean up their sound on the albums, their live sound is pretty much identical. They really emphasize this raw, punchy, yet laid-back sound that I just love

I'll be doing the write-up for it in the discography thread by the weeks end. I've been spinning it a ton lately, and its not that easy to get your head around. I love it, but it took a few spins.

If you get it, I suggest you start on track 5 and let it spin around to track 4. the first 2 songs shouldn't lead the album but are ultimately good, they just go better with the album. One of the tracks (#3 "Got to Move) I personally think is terrible and sounds like a sped-up version of "Stand by you" by the Pretenders.

I really love:

Thank you for reminding me that I downloaded it awhile ago but I haven't gotten around to listening to it yet.
