Not necessarily indie or anything, but a few buddies of mine had a really great grunge band going for a bit in Charlotte:
Loud All Over on Myspace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads I was good friends with their bassist and drummer. They were getting pretty close to getting booked at some serious gigs in Charlotte, and even in the process of getting a record deal, but they had to split. Bassist and drummer are at college, the singer (bassist's brother) is a spoiled Axl Rose wannabe, and the guitarist.... not a clue. |
None. Absolutely none.

Not sure how much exposure any of these bands get outside of Vancouver but some of them are pretty well known here.
|
^ I love Mother Mother, Said the Whale, Jets Overhead and We are the City
Haven't heard of Parlour Steps but they sound good. From Victoria so it doesn't really prove if they get more exposure or not though haha A few other from this area, some more well known than others: |
The only band I can think of is a hardcore band from around here. Other then that IDK too many indie/alternative bands that are around here right now.

Although most people tend to associate the jam band scene with the Northeastern US moreso than the South, that scene is very much alive in my area. There's even a small festival every year that's comprised of local acts more on the jammy side of things.
First, I'll mention my favorite band in the scene, and one that often tours up in the Northeast, particularly in the Vermont area. Genuine Junk Band The Hard Quartet And some other local bands I just like: Deadbeats and Barkers My buddy Roger (of The Neverly Brothers, another local band) performing with Genuine Junk Band: Whirling Dervish: The Salty Sirens: |
There's quite a few good local bands in Baltimore.
This is Mason Summers. They're a Christian Punk band. I know the people in this band pretty well, they're awesome people. There's also my brother's band. They're called The Funnelcakes. They're a pop punk kind of band. |
I'm from Nova Scotia and as far as music from BC, I've got Dan Mangan and Jets Overhead on my cpu and I love both those bands/artists. The only other one I even remember hearing about is Immaculate Machine.
