She’s got an incredible voice. I seen them a few years back and although I was quite unwell it was a brilliant gig.

Was into Ceremonials for a short while. Usually I'll end up revisiting what I've tired of quickly & end up liking better second time around, but that never occurred with either Florence ..or w/St. Vincent (Annie Clark) when I also lost interest. I am surprised haven't seen anything on her here. I think once I heard the David Bryne/Talking Heads influence, that lost me. :(

What a thread. Howard the Duck was in here, a lot of 10 years old takes I no longer agree with, and me being a ****. I can't believe I stayed away so long.

Anyway, all these years later I'm still digging this band. Specifically:

Heavy in your arms

What kind of man

Just another overly hyped 'hipster' artist who did nothing for me. The couple of songs that I did manage to listen to left me cold.

Overblown, anthemic nonsense, with very little substance.

Interesting but I wonder what you mean by ‘anthemic’ in this context ? Maybe the line ‘a sinner like me’ triggered the thought ? Has me wondering what you’d make of a Bach cantata or Handel’s ‘Messiah’ ?

Florence and co are for hipsters now? I shall update the chart accordingly.

Has she ever clarified what is the machine in question? I like to think that it refers to a character from a 1999 Nick Cage classic

Everyone's entitled to their opinion but I'd love to know what you consider substantive and underrated.
