Sleigh Bells
Saw a few namedrops, but no thread as far as I can tell. Pitchfork just wrote a glowing review so they're in the process of exploding and holy shit, this really is one of the most fun albums this year. You can probably hear some music here: SLEIGHBELLS on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads (it's not opening up for me) or just get the damn album, if you haven't already. For those not in the know, it's kinda like MIA gone bubblegum pop with a few songs that sound like Crystal Castles (raw punky stuff). And I just found out they'll be coming to my neck of the woods in a month. The excitement was slightly dampened by the live videos on youtube, but still, the beats should be loud enough to drown out her off key singing...

I adore Sleigh Bells. Fantastic guitarist, fantastic raw energy, fantastic songs. And I cried when I saw that "Beach Girls" wasn't on the album until I heard this: |

Kids is much better. I love the production on the album in general, but that's one of the reasons why it's not really worth seeing them live, they need to come up with something better than a guy and a girl playing to a recorded matrix. Or whathaveyou...

I assume you haven't seen them live. Me neither, but from watching videos, I just have to say fuck no. The dude is a great guitarist, the girl jumps around like a bunny on coke and the crowd seems to adore it.
Besides, according to livenation, tix are only $12 a pop so if you're over 21, fucking go. You have $12 lying around. See Sleigh Bells. You do not need more vinyl. |

Um, I did see them live, that's why I'm saying it, dummy. Sure, go see them, just don't expect them to offer more than they do on the album. (btw, don't know where you get that he's an excellent guitarist, but he really doesn't have much to do here *unsure*)

They are pretty different, I will give them that. I don't they're anything too terribly special though. I do need to give them another couple listens before I judge too much.

Obviously, but that theme is so incredibly played out (especially in the modern 'indie noise pop' scene). I doubt lyricism is really what they're using to attract people, anyways, but it still gets on my nerves every once in a while.
