furthermore, nirvana literally changed the sound of rock music for the next 5 or so years with one bloody song and an album to bolster its appeal. whatever you say about it you cannot doubt neverminds impact. im not the biggest motley crue fan, nor do i know much about them, but im pretty sure they never produced anything near as good as nevermind or bleach for that matter.

Glam rock was the biggest selling Rock of the 80s
Motley Crue were the first Glam rock band to get any exposure. They also sold albums by the millions. You say Nirvana changed rock , so did Motley Crue a decade earlier. Before they came along the american music scene was full of soft rock & 70s has beans.Motley Crue paved the way for the likes of Poison ,Guns n Roses, Bon Jovi , Ratt & probably helped revive the careers of Aerosmith & Alice Cooper in the process. All million selling artists in the 80s , Motley Crue`s success in that decade pre dates all of them. Just because you don`t like a genre of music doesn`t mean you can`t give credit. It doesn`t matter if Nirvana`s albums were better or not thats subjective

I'm going to go out on a limb and say The Beatles. Not because they're bad, they're not, they're very good. and not because I underestimate the influence they've had on contemporary pop/rock music. I don't. I just find them quite boring, especially compared to reverence and mania with which most people approach their music. I also think the Rolling Stones are very UNDERRATED as far as their influence on today's music is concerned. They don't get enough credit. I'd rather listen to a good Stonrs album than the Beatles any day.
