Does anyone have any suggestions for bands similar to what The Shins were from about 2000-2007 and particularly their very early stuff, only just got round to listening to Port of Morrow and I have to say, I'm really disappointed with it. Also anything similar to Mercury Rev would be appreciated

Have you listened to Broken Bells? Mercers side project with Danger Mouse? Very shinsish.

Early Mercury Rev with David Baker (yerself is steam, boces)? Or afterwards because to me they sound very different after he left.

Thanks for those. Yeah, I really should get back to using spotify, I got rid of it about three years ago when they started clamping down/limiting what you could listen to and haven't really used it since. Probably a bad idea since I've gotten a bit lazy in finding things for myself....Thanks though!

New-ish band called Alpines that I'm really enjoying at the moment. If you like acts such as Saint Saviour, Theme Park etc then you should check them out.

Good video -

Nah I haven't, just listening to them now and they seem tidy. Pretty Shinish and remind me a bit of Gorrilaz and even a bit of Mattafix, I like it, cheers.

I'd probably say afterwards, more like Deserter's Songs/All Is Dream. I like their first two and the third probably has my favourite Mercury Rev song-Young Man's stride, but I was kinda thinking more recent to be honest.
