Good performance on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson by a Scottish band last night.

What are some ultra bleak and desolate slowcore/sadcore bands? I absolutely adore Chokebore's A Taste For Bitters. It`s pretty bleak, lyrically and musically.

I enjoy stuff like Codeine, Arab Strap, and whatnot, but it doesn't seem sad enough. Give me the most dejected bands you've got, from within the alternative spectrum of course. I know enough DSBM.

Codeine, to me, aren't so much sad as they are... crushing. Their albums are an emotional rollercoaster - truly powerful music, and very bleak and desolate - of all I've heard musically, it doesn't get any bleaker than Codeine for me.

Another record that springs to mind when using these words is The For Carnation's self-titled record. Check that one out.

Default Brns

BRNS is a Belgian band from Brussels. They could become something big.

Instead of just bands or single songs, I'm kind of looking for whole albums I can throw on my iPod. Any suggestions? I'm in dire need of new music right now.

Have you got a lastFM? What are some of your favourite albums?

1. Nope. Should I?

2. I've reached the point where all the stuff I listen to is relatively stale and I really want to discover some newer, probably less known stuff. But a few of my favorites....

-Blood Sugar Sex Magik - RHCP
-Nevermind - Nirvana
-Franz Ferdinand - Self Titled
-The Big Come Up - The Black Keys
-Is This It - The Strokes
-Wasting Light - Foo Fighters

Any album by Arcade Fire IMHO is a good bet--always good through and through without filler songs. They grow on you. I'd recommend their second, Neon Bible, for you to start -- based of the albums you list as favorites (had to explain...just a feeling you might like it best.)

If you haven't already, check out Lowercase, Jessica Bailiff, Carissa's Wierd, Bluetile Lounge, Lowlife, Asylum Party, Black Heart Procession, Of the Wand and the Moon, Prolapse etc. Not all sadcore/slowcore but certainly depressing. I assume you're already familiar with RHP, Rex etc? Noise rock bands such as Guzzard and Distorted Pony are pretty bleak.

This song may also appeal too, very glum;
