What are some ultra bleak and desolate slowcore/sadcore bands? I absolutely adore Chokebore's A Taste For Bitters. It`s pretty bleak, lyrically and musically.
I enjoy stuff like Codeine, Arab Strap, and whatnot, but it doesn't seem sad enough. Give me the most dejected bands you've got, from within the alternative spectrum of course. I know enough DSBM. |

Codeine, to me, aren't so much sad as they are... crushing. Their albums are an emotional rollercoaster - truly powerful music, and very bleak and desolate - of all I've heard musically, it doesn't get any bleaker than Codeine for me.
Another record that springs to mind when using these words is The For Carnation's self-titled record. Check that one out. |

2. I've reached the point where all the stuff I listen to is relatively stale and I really want to discover some newer, probably less known stuff. But a few of my favorites.... -Blood Sugar Sex Magik - RHCP -Nevermind - Nirvana -Franz Ferdinand - Self Titled -The Big Come Up - The Black Keys -Is This It - The Strokes -Wasting Light - Foo Fighters |

Any album by Arcade Fire IMHO is a good bet--always good through and through without filler songs. They grow on you. I'd recommend their second, Neon Bible, for you to start -- based of the albums you list as favorites (had to explain...just a feeling you might like it best.)
