You could check out The Dandy Warhols, my favorite songs are "Mohammed", "Nietzsche" and "Godless"
|
I have been following FERGUS for a long time. He is an Indie artist, singer and songwriter based in London. You can check his songs, they are soft and warm.
You might like them. |
I’ve had “It’s a Crime I Never Told You About the Diamonds in Your Eyes” by The Black Heart Procession on repeat. It’s an older one though and you’re all probably already familiar with them.
|
^ I was intrigued by that song title rob, so i took a look on youtube:-
It's a great song - and so were the next ones by Black Heart Procession that youtube played: The Letter and A Cry For Love. Just love that moody violin! Thanks for introducing me to a new band, and welcome to MB :wavey: |

And thanks for the welcome. |
i've been a fan of The Castanets ever since i finished Hotline Miami 2, but another band i've actually corresponded with is Hunchback Whale. i've considered buying some of their merch; i'm not a huge band fan (i generally prefer solo acts) but i really like some of their songs. i've also been a fan of The Bad Haircuts, but they haven't released anything new in a few years.

The song reminds me of INXS - Mystify. |
I picked up an EP by Greet Death last week. Their previous release, New Hell, is excellent.

Supersaurus - Alice
Elijah Braide - Holes in my clothes, Confessions Orchid - Like Thunder |

found a band in reverbnation, addicted recently
The Nocturnal Informers |
hello everyone. I am somewhat new to posting in the site (I joined long ago but forgot about this site), and this is the first time I asked for recommends.
For my full taste, feel free to check out favesongs.wordpress.com. My current taste consists of songs that are impressive or unique in some way or form. I don't really like rap, shoegaze, ambient, noise or country, nor the top 250 of Rate your music lists. Examples include: Odo by Ado, night of bloom by Xomu, Fukurou by KOKIA, [Personal favorite], Bones by Imagine Dragons, Shivers by Ed sheeran, Adios by DAZBEE, Beach House by Carly Rae Jepson, Mera Mera by Mori Calliope, coloratura by Coldplay, the storm by thefatrat, West Coast by OneRepublic Thanks in advance! |

Beatles and indie band?
What are your thoughts?
They created their oun label, and make music their way. there's a divided opinion on this subject what do you think? |
Well, the Beatles we're shooting for their own independence until they found out they made lousy businessmen. Enter Allen Klein and you can figure out the rest.
No, I don't think the Beatles (or anyone in the late sixties for that matter) saw themselves as indie artists. While they obviously didn't want to be told what to do by the studio (and they were fortunate to have an ally like George Martin), they nonetheless played ball when it came to having an album ready as per their contract. Touring was a bigger problem for them and you may notice much of the best material came after they gave touring up. So, no, I don't call the Beatles an indie band in the classic sense, though they, along with Dylan and the Beach Boys (or at least Brian Wilson anyway), would be a big influence on the DIY crowd as early as the late seventies. |
I'll join in...as a newbie, I cannot post Youtube/Bandcamp links, so you'll have to Google yourselves, but, here goes....
THE POP GUNS - Waiting For The Winter This one is sort of janglepop/indiepop but with a little bit of a new wave twist. A breakup/gone away to college ending. "Six weeks gone and not a word / This means the end, I never should have held a hope...." The Popguns have an utter knack for going straight for the gut, whether falling in love, breaking up, even drunken pulls. Then there's "Still Waiting For The Winter", a song of wistful yearning down the years (this one actually made me cry), an slightly older perspective, a flame long held.....and still an emotional punch in the gut!!! FRISBEES IN THE FOG - Finale Utterly gorgeous shoegaze/dream pop and an even more gorgeous female voice...apparantly a soundtrack to a secret short film that may or may not exist.... BEANS ON TOAST - Chessington World Of Adventures Political singer songwriter...essentially a on man band...imagine Robb Johnson (who you should also check out if unfamiliar) singing Billy Bragg songs and you're half way there. This one takes on the utter balls up the UK tory government made of covid 19. |
Not really looking for recommendations or anything; I'm just here to leave some for others cause I fell down this rabbit hole recently.
