I would say that you should look into Phish. They are a jam band so there is a lot of improvisation in their live material (which is their only good material). I'd say a good amount of their music is jazz influenced and their is funk bass in certain songs.

Just discovered Nico Stai. Dunno if anyone has mentioned him here earlier, but his song "One October song" really got to me. His voice is awesome!

I really like Free energy, ok go, the strokes, tokyo police club and the likes...Im a big fan of high energy rythms, ,and it could be a little poppy also.

anybody know any bands like this?

Have you ever heard of the apples in stereo? look up the song "energy"
Also I assume you've heard of MGMT if you're writing posts on a music forum, but if not they're really similar to the kinds of music you're talking about.
Also Also, try The Virgins. "Rich Girls". This band is essentially The Strokes.
