their new stuff is still cool, you can tell that they have change musically though, mainly through lyrics,
really? I think the new stuff is absolute crap. Boring repetitive lyrics about cheesy overdone topics. I actually liked the old stuff though.

Its the best music scene in the world at the moment. Pop Montreal makes me wet in special places. So many amazing bands play there it is unbelievable.

Heres some amazing bands that you've not listed!

The Arcade Fire
Wolf Parade
Frog Eyes
The New Pornographers
Destroyer
The Unicorns
Chromeo
Solvent
Pony Up!
The Unicorns / Th'Corn Gangg
The Barcelona Pavillion
They shoot horses don't they
Hank
The Dears
The Organ
The Pets / The Waking Eyes
The Lovely Feathers

.......and no, I'm not Canadian, I'm English. But I'd much prefer listening to the new stuff coming out of Canada, then the rehashed dull garbage from my own shores.

Is it just me that doesnt really think about where a band is from? Its just not really on the top of my list, if you see what I mean... I just listen to the music, I dont tend to read up on where bands are from...

I don't read where they are from Artist, but it has got to the stage now where if someone says "Yeah they're from Montreal" then it means that I have to check them out. That used to be the case with Manchester circa 1990.

When I heard The Arcade Fire this time last year I knew that they would explode, they were too good to stay tiny. And I know that Wolf Parade are headed exactly the same way. When a band does something that is a lot better than what everyone else is doing, then its common sense. Location is irrelevant, but if the location defines the music, then it is important.

Canada is my favorite country making music right now. Constellation and Arts & Crafts records alone blow every other country out of the water. The only other country I like almost as much as Canada is Sweden, for their wonderful, wonderful Indie Pop bands.

I don't care where a band is from, but it's very interesting to follow the trends i think... most of my favorite music for the last few years has been from Scotland... but Canada has some very good music too... which is great as they've not had much good indie groups in the past..

Arcade Fire is THE BEST indie group on tour right now. period. Soulwax and Explosions in the Sky rounding out the top 3 live bands... do see them if you can!

How about adding these 3?…

The New Pornographers
Peaches
Our Lady Peace

Not necissarily my top 3, but still all Canadian, eh?

How about Triumph? Also Neil Young is the best musical thing from Canada, IMO.
