Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...nter/EGG01.pngAny one know of any other of their music besides Up From Below?
AND
any other artists with very similar sounds?

played a small festival they also played, but our sets were at the same time so I didn't get to hear

That's their only full album out as of now. They have an EP but I don't usually track those down because if they're released before the full album they have essentially the same songs.

As far as a similar sounding artist, if you haven't checked out The Polyphonic Spree I'd check them out. Their track on the Nightmare Revisited soundtrack is amazing.

Check out Monsters of Folk!

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Does anyone know of any bands that have a similar folk-rock sound as Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros do? It's hard to find a band that sounds so organic and earthy as they do.

What do you mean by organic?

May you provide an example? What is the song's band you like more?

I liked them until I saw them live. Not a very good show.

wexy 02-05-2012 08:22 AM

Uh-oh. I'm going to their show in Tulsa next month. They're known for having great live performances. What happened?

I cannot stand them. I love the indie-folk movement lately, but they're trying so hard to be "hipster" and "vintage" that they're basically everything the indie crowd doesn't want.

i saw them live at paramount studios last year, and at the grove in anaheim the year before (i think)....absolutely awesome live...but i will admit that they are kind of a pretentious group. but they only have that one album out, but i believe they're coming out with a new album later this year....both singers alexander and jade came out with solo albums, which werent all that great, imo

try checking out deer tick or m. ward? they kind of have a folksy sound to them...or even early against me! (pre 'as the eternal cowboy')

If you like their song "Home", then you'll probably like Little Talks by OF Monsters and Men.

I don't know about the whole album/band but try this:

Dead Man's Bones - My Body's a Zombie for You

Sounds pretty close to me. (and yes, that's Ryan Gosling)

Andrew Bird! Okay, perhaps quite the same sound.. but he's awesome.
