Default Good Shoes

Who's given the new album a listen? What did you think?

I'm enjoying it, nice progression from the first, but not too far departed.

I saw them live a few years back and thought they were quite good. Bit of an Orange Juice pop feel, set them slightly apart from that wave of scratchy guitar bands of the time. Got the 1st LP soon after though and thought it was very disappointing.

I quite enjoy the first album, I got into them through lightspeed champion covering Never Meant To Hurt You.

Whoops! Just realised I was confusing them with GoodBooks, who I saw live around the same time. Although much of my comment stands, save the Orange Juice bit and the disappointing first LP, which both attach to GB.

So yeah, I did see these live a few years ago and they were another of those Talking Heads-esque bands, although a bit more "pop", not so edgy. Decent enough, I'll give that YouTube clip a spin at some point soon.

Given that first YouTube clip a listen now. Bit disappointed really. They're OK but don't stand out from that whole new wave guitar/wobbly vocal crowd. Born Ruffians do that thing a lot better I think.
