Best Math Rock
I was just wondering what everone thinks the best math rock albums are.
|
For Respect - Don Caballero
The Hoop - Crime In Choir Hold Your Horse Is - Hella Trees, Swallows, Houses - Maps & Atlases Wonderful Rainbow - Lightning Bolt (debatably math rock) Split - Cats and Cats and Cats/This Town Needs Guns Complex Full of Phantoms - Tera Melos/By the End of Tonight |
More Skin With Milk-Mouth by Giraffes? Giraffes!
|
Tera Melos- Self-titled.
EDIT: well excluding melody 8, but nobody really listens to it. |

I also dig Don Caballero - Don Caballero II and The Ladies - They Mean Us. |

I wouldn't say it's great the whole way through but it has enough cool songs to merit mention. Empathy on a Stick is an absolutely killer song.
I'm also a big fan of Marnie Stern's albums. |
Battles- Mirrored (Fun, catchy futuristic math rock)
Don Caballero- What Burns Never Returns (Much better than For Respect imo) Slint- Spiderland (More thrown into the post-rock umbrella, but still a math rock record to me) 65daysofstatic- The Fall of Math (see above) Minus The Bear- Highly Refined Pirates Giraffes? Giraffes!- More Skin With Milk-Mouth Maps and Atlases- Trees, Swallows, Houses (both the last two were previously mentioned, but extremely fun records) |
