Is there such thing as math rock with lyrics (aside from Zappa's work).

Hmmm... I never even thought of Slint as 'math rock' but Google has shown me that many do. Weird, I guess I've missed something obvious about an album I like a lot.

What about Hella's Theres No 666 in Outer Space? Its pretty crazy, but if you can handle it, its really entertaining.

PS It has vocals too.

Rumah Sakit - self-titled on Temporary Residence from 2000 is amazing. They only released 2 albums, second one is so-so. But that first one is pretty perfect.

Don Cabellero - American Don (always one of my favorites)

Love many of the other bands mentioned as well. Looking forward to a new Battles album, it's about time. Sad to hear Tyondai Braxton left the band, he'll be taking a lot of their sound with him.

no way. heavy metal is closer to classical. math rock has just too many technical differences to classical

"by-" by bygones; a collaboration between Zach Hill of Hella and Nick Reinhardt of Tera Melos. Absolutely stunning stuff, I've reviewed it in my journal already, definitely worth checking out.

I remember checking that out a while back...not sure if I just heard samples or if I actually listened to it, but something about it turned me off.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
