you're referring to a.m. 180.
grandaddy is my favorite band, by far. radiohead was my former favorite, but i like grandaddy so much that i don't even listen to radiohead with the same joy that i used to. a lot of people think the sophtware slump is their best album, but i generally put utwf, sumday and jltfc above it, with just like the fambly cat being my favorite by a longshot. jason lytle is my musical god and i am highly anticipating a solo debut or something. truly great music.

I was just listening to Sumday and reminiscing about back when this album first came out and I used to listen to it all the time. So I figured I'd go see if there's an MB thread for them and lo and behold there is!
I got into this band in a weird way that is unique in my long history of how I've gotten into bands. Back in 2001 I worked at a record store in Chicago for only one day. I was out of college at that point but times were tough for me then and I had always wanted to work in a record store. I worked only one day because they were trying out a couple potential new-hires for one day each. Unfortunately, my lack of a car was a deal killer for them and I didn't get hired. Anyway, at some point during the day, one of the people who was briefly a coworker of mine put on The Sophtware Slump and I was floored by it. I went out and bought it not long after and have been a fan ever since. So I guess that day wasn't a total loss. |
