Johnny Marr was only on one album one which wasn't as good as their early work. I'd start with the Lonesome Crowded West.

Modest Mouse is the greatest rock band in the history of the world.

Personally I really like this band. GNFPWLBN was my first exposure to them, so I don't know a lot of their older songs (3rd Planet and that's about it : P ).
WWDBTSES I think has its good songs and it's filler songs, just like most albums these days. My three favorites are probably the same as most people, March Into the Sea, Dashboard, and Missed the Boat.

I like Modest Mouse but their recent album was not as good as I had hoped. I like though, Good news for people who love bad news. I love that entire album.
Have any of you checked their side project Ugly Casanova?
They only have one c.d. though. It's pretty awesome. It's called Sharpen your teeth. You should check it out, it's a pretty awesome album.

Their earlier work is so much better....how'd they become mainstream though?
