I'm a HUGE Modest Mouse fan! The Lonesome Crowded West is STILL one of my all time favorite albums!

heehee well it's nice to be around other indie fans...I'm generally alone and holding up the fort on indie in my neck of the woods, so I'll have lots to say ;)

Meghan 02-02-2004 12:36 AM

I really like Modest Mouse. I enjoy "Paper-thin walls", and "Polar opposites". I agree, it's good to see some Indie fans.

jibber 02-08-2004 03:39 PM

I LOVE modest mouse, I never get into my car without their CD in the CD player. :)

Edgil 02-08-2004 05:06 PM

they got some good tunes ;)

Doornail 02-20-2004 09:16 PM

Haha, another of my favorite bands. Long Drive (aka This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About) is by far my favorite, but I can't say they've ever produced a single album I didn't thoroughly enjoy. If you EVER get the chance to see these guys live, do so without thinking twice. Just seeing Isaac's face while he's singing is completely worth it.
Also, if you can get your hands on a copy of the Modest Mouse/764-Hero split album (I think it's called "Whenever You See Fit"), that's an incredible album. Though it only has one song, it's like 15 minutes long and worth every penny.

IamAlejo 02-22-2004 04:08 PM

Yeah, I've gotta agree with you there. They consistantly come out with great albums.

Erucolindo 03-03-2004 03:32 PM

I love some Modest Mouse. I have 4 of their albums and they're all great. My favorite has to be The Moon and Antartica. Its different from the regular Modest Mouse sound, but I love it.

Meghan 04-11-2004 10:56 AM

Has anyone heard their newest album? I have heard very mixed reviews.

your name here 04-11-2004 11:26 AM

im new to this fourm,....but i think Modest Muse rocks! Im trying to get my friends to listen to them,..but they are into more hardcore stuff than indie. but yeah,..i love modest mouse!

Yeah, I pre-ordered their newest album, "Good News for People Who Love Bad News" After listening to it for days on end, I was dissapointed. It was not what I was expecting from Modest Mouse especially since the Moon and Anartica was such an awesome album. Don't get me wrong, its a pretty good album, its just not what I was expecting.

I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10.

But I hate music critics so what the hell am I doing. Just stating my opinion I guess...

Pimp_racer 05-15-2004 07:57 PM

Modest Mouse

Hey tell me what you guys think of them...they were cool as hell with their whole "indie for life attitude"...but now they signed with epic records and are on the radio and tv...so they could be considered sellouts by many... lemme know what you think.

sijyboo 05-16-2004 03:20 PM

Being on TV and the radio doesn't constitute "selling out." But personally, I can't stand them, and to be honest, they're better off on MTV in my opinion. "Indie for life attitude" Them and indie? ROFL

Thrice 05-16-2004 06:14 PM

Are you kidding?

They were Indie

gregb 05-17-2004 12:14 AM

Their past albums were better, but the new cd is pretty good still.

xcollapseofmyheartx 05-17-2004 09:49 PM

AHHHHHH GREATEST BAND EVER! wow. they are so amazing. i mean every time i listen to them they blow me away. its great. they just put such amazing songs on their cd's (i have three: this is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about , good news for people who love bad news, and the moon and antarctica [remastered]) how are they indie?

ally 05-23-2004 05:02 PM

modest mouse....hmm i enjoy them. i dont think they are the greatest band but overall i like them. id have to say that they are indie, i cant think of anything else to classify them as.

xcollapseofmyheartx 05-23-2004 07:41 PM

modest mouse has been with epic since 2001. if you didnt know that and classified them as indie then thats hippocritical.

xcollapseofmyheartx 05-23-2004 07:46 PM

i just got everywhere and his nasty parlour tricks

xcollapseofmyheartx 05-23-2004 07:59 PM

Modest Mouse

what is your favorite modest mouse song/album?

xcollapseofmyheartx 05-23-2004 08:00 PM

i always like playing my guitar along to custom concern on the drive cd.

Thrice 05-24-2004 06:46 PM

The one where they didnt SELL OUT

Thrice 05-24-2004 06:52 PM

Where in here did i classifiy them as indie post 2001?

I stated "They were indie" in which i was referring to pre-2001

get the facts straight.

xcollapseofmyheartx 05-24-2004 07:23 PM

sell out? they put float on on mtv and they sell out?

Thrice 05-24-2004 07:44 PM

No...Jesus! You always say stuff i never said! Where did I say that?

Please Show me! They sold out because they used to bitch about everyone else that sold out. They were always indie as hell...they were "the model indie band" then they went and signed with a big label...thats why they are sell outs...they traded in their pride for money.

xcollapseofmyheartx 05-26-2004 08:49 AM

"The one where they didnt SELL OUT"

I cant stress the fact that mm has been signed with epic for almost 4 years now. ever since float on got air time, everyone pretty much sh*t their pants. float on is a good song. and theyve made (i think) 7 or 8 albums, 3 have been with epic. one song got put on. just one. what would happen if some other bands that you like got airtime?

IamGOD 06-04-2004 07:51 PM

modest mouse is ok i like the float on song

mynameismike 06-06-2004 08:21 PM

i concur. they're great.

read my last post...it has nothing to do with airtime! its all about hypocracy

Pimp_racer 06-10-2004 11:39 AM

damn collapsed u just got owned. if u fight with the best u die like the rest

Thrice 06-10-2004 05:53 PM

ha ha always there as the voice in the back...

xcollapseofmyheartx 06-11-2004 06:58 PM

?????????????????

austin 06-24-2004 03:03 PM

whatever

think of all the people out there who are now mm fans because mm got airtime, or they saw the cd... now you are one of millions who likes a band. That makes me sad because soon they will join the ranks of such s**t as simple plan and good charlotte... who cares what they used to be like, especially when they've already sold out. music is about the fun, the total awesomeness of playing in front of 200 people at the local bar, or 20 at your house, you know? it's not about the money or that kind of stuff... big bucks often mean big trouble, and there a only a few exceptions (beatles, pink floyd, etc.) no matter who you are, your fans will hate you for selling out, and everybody needs to remember that.

no icon.

IamGOD 06-24-2004 08:37 PM

ya i dont really care if a band sell outs.. doesnt really matter to be.. as long as i get to hear them..

stanmanfoo 06-26-2004 10:19 PM

well, as a total mouse junkie, I must come to thier defense, at least a little bit. there hasn't been an album they put out that I didn't love, except for the most recent one. I am afraid that they are starting to sell out... just like the foo fighters and the red hot chili peppers, the early stuff was amazing, and then the longer they go, they just start to lose it. By The Way was practicaly pop...

btw, I'm new here, so go easy on me

trailer_trash_kid06 07-04-2004 02:20 AM

modest mouse is my fav band has been since 6th grade.. they're not sell outs. period. sure this newest album was mediocre.. but still. it doesnt matter how big they become they'll always be my fav. in answereing your question, my favorite ablum would have to be Lonesome Crowded West hands down. fav. song.. well thats too hard i love so many of them.. dramamine, trailer trash, karma's pavement, i came as a rat, night on the sun, teeth like god's shoeshine, or willful suspenion of disbelief.. ahhh i dunno im missing a lot theres just too many.. sheesh.

trailer_trash_kid06 07-04-2004 02:40 AM

modest mouse owns all. of course they're indie what do you think? they're pop yeah. well all those ppl who think they're their biggest fans b/c they listen to "float on" on MTV can die. b/c "good news for ppl who love bad news" is merly a medicre album. and its not like they've completely 180'd their style. just b/c they got an extra guitare and new drummer. even tho. Jerimah Greene just re-joined. do you realize how many albums they have? i just try to hold tight to them and not let those "mall-core" kids bring me down with their ignorant "appreciation" for "music" no matter how big they get they'll never go to the extremes of selling out like blink, simple plan, GC, or dashboard, ever, they're orginal to the core and thats all that matters,
