I pretty much agree with this (except it wasn't my introduction). The only songs on Good News... that I actually like are Ocean Breathes Salty, Bury Me With It, Bukowski, Satin in a Coffin, Black Cadillacs. Well ok that's almost half, but it's not like I love them either. The rest I either can't stand or they feel like filler, so overall I don't like the album. Some of the singing is downright cringe-worthy (though not as bad as the following album...it was just a preview of what was to come), and tracks like "The Good Times are Killing Me" really sum it up nicely...more like "this fucking album is killing me" by the time that comes around.

Yes, harsh words for a band I used to love. As I've said before, what it comes down to for me is a loss of sincerity in the sound.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

'Float On' gets overplayed but it is an excellent pop song. 'The View' and 'One Chance' are two of my favorite Modest Mouse songs. The middle of the album is more tolerable than memorable, but I like the vibe it gives off when you listen to the album as a whole...
