yea i wish they would make another lonesome crowded. and i dont think its so much that they went mainstream as they have changed their sound. they arent selling out if thats what you are implying(at least i dont think so).

I've only heard We were dead and 'Good News...', both of which i thought were great albums but Good news was better to IMO. I'm bout to check out TMAA.

Yeah, i'm not a huge fan of their new radio-friendly, poppish sound, although i suppose it (their new sound) isn't a result of them going commercial -- remember, M&A was on a major label as well. i guess i'm just a little frustrated that this incredible band flies under the radar for almost a decade, and then finally gets recognition after their songwriting (at least IMO) shows an obvious decline.

well i'm pretty upset because modest mouse has to be my all time favorite band ever and i didn't get to go see them last night. they were only 30 minutes away from me! but i didn't have internet for who knows how long and i didn't find out until i finally got my internet back and the tickets were sold out. :[ i'm very upset about that...hopefully i will have the chance again soon. isaac brock is amazing! the lyrics in the songs and his voice, just blows me away.

i'm kind of surprised to see so many people choosing Lonesome Crowded West as their fave. it's great, but it's not my #1.

blindly, i would choose Long Drive. but going by my track ratings in foobar, Moon and Antarctica and Good News both have the most 4 and 5 star tracks.

really, i like it all except for Sad Sappy Sucker. that one's just rubbish.

who's seen them live? i think i've been to 5 shows now. once they opened for Cake, that was the worst i've seen them. they don't seem to do well in big venues. the best show i saw was also the first - the Garage in London, back in 2000 i think it was. fantastic show, tiny venue, and i was up front standing next to speakers that towered over me. what performance they put on! unfortunately i had to leave early, i was hugely disappointed...

also, the guy i was with was a french dude who wrote for a music zine, so he managed to get an interview. we sat and had some beers with the band before the show. Brock wasn't there unfortunately. he apparently hates doing interviews. it's said that's the origin of Ugly Casanova

Strange how Modest Mouse are so big in the US and nobody has even heard of 'em in Europe. Most "supergroups" have a following worldwide but not MM.

I love Modest Mouse, I honestly prefer their sound from "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank" over their earlier sound, although my favorite songs("Paper Thin Walls" and "The View") came from the earlier albums, "Dashboard" was good, although it gets old after a while, "We've Got Everything" is great. I don't like "Float On" a whole lot, but I do like "Ocean Breaths Salty" and "Dance Hall"
