I hadn't heard of Modest Mouse until I met my hubby (about 6 years ago). The drummer in his old band was really into them. I didn't care for them at first, but they've grown on me. My favorite albums are "The Lonesome Crowded West" and "This Is A Long Drive for Someone With Nothing To Think About". Oh, and "The Moon and Antarctica". These guys are just different and I love 'em!

I've downloaded like 5 albums from them ages ago but haven't given them a listen yet. Today I tried listening to This is a long drive...but got tired of it after 4 songs...:\

What was your view of that album from last year?

I've heard only one song from it. I'll get to it eventually...Usually I can't really get into a band's earlier work if I start with their latest so I'm trying to do this the right way. Although, I may just give it up altogether...they seem to have released a gazillion albums which is a bit daunting.

I'll be honest, I don't have a whole lot of Modest Mouse (especially their earlier work), but I think they are a decent band. I don't care much for their last two albums, but The Moon & Antarctica and This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About are good albums. I need to get Lonesome Crowded West before I can pass definitive judgment on them though.
