I enjoyed Good News, to be honest. They're definitely a favorite of mine, and I thought the new EP was good. It shows the band changing their style in a direction I think I'll really enjoy. One confusion here though... If these songs were just older work released to fill a contract, doesn't that sort of contradict your point? That would mean that the music on We Were Dead actually represents their current sound best. Don't know about that though, just wondering. And King Rat is marvelous, I like the horns and the video is entertaining. The Lonesome Crowded West remains my favorite from them though, followed by probably The Moon & Antarctica. By the way, Sad Sappy Sucker was pre-00s stuff.

Really like them, although I do think Lonesome Crowded West and Good News>Moon And Antartica(overlong and dosn't always gel properly).
Also seeing them in December.Cannae wait.

I went to see them live once. Anyone that's half way on the fence should go to a live show. I'll bet they will pull you over to the dark side. Can't wait to see future albums from them.
thanks

I've really fallen for Modest Mouse all over again recently. I genuinely think they havent made an average album, my least favourite, We were Dead... still pisses over the majhority of Indie Rock being released at the moment. The first three will always be my favourites, The Moon & Antartica in particular is sublime.

I've been an avid fan of Modest Mouse for 5 or 6 years now, and it's really awesome to see this thread having so many posts. Isaac Brock is in my opinion one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Every one of their albums has astounded me in one way or another, and they always give you something to think about. Sadly, I feel their last release has dropped the bar a few levels, although I give them slack since it's hard to live up to their past albums.

Listened to the recent EP,better than I was expecting and well stoked for seeing them.I'm hoping for a Moon And Antartica set,but I'd settle for a We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank one.

Are you seeing them at Electric Ballroom perchance? It'll be so much better than the Shephards Bush show the night before i reckon. It's a much smaller venue and the support act is almost on a par (i actually think Todays Active Lifestyles is up there with M&A)
