I'm not discrediting the older stuff. I mean, "Lonesome Crowded West", and "Build Nothing out of Something" are definitely favorites of mine. And I can't listen to "This is a Long Drive" without finding myself mulling over different life events. But "Good News" really found MM at the top of their game. In my humble opinion. |

Good News was my introduction to Modest Mouse. I mean it has its moments but for me is kinda hollow. It has this kinda fake feel to me. Like Brock is trying SOOO hard to keep his edge intact while having this super polished sound that was a continuation from The Moon & Antarctica(first album with major label). The album has it's successes, but it is certainly not without its share of failures too.

I was listening to Lonesome Crowded West earlier today and it finally clicked with me on how good the album is. I always thought it was completely overrated but now I think it deserves the praise it gets. I still don't think it's as good as Moon & Antarctica but pretty damn close.

The Moon & Antarctica is one of my favourite albums ever. I've also got The Lonesome Crowded West but haven't listened to it often enough to really offer any proper opinion on it, though I have liked the parts I can remember.
