I don't see "Good News for People Who Love Bad News" anywhere on that list, sir. I know that it's regarded by the hipsters as the album that marked Brock's first real inclination toward commercialism, but I feel like it was their best album to date. As far as production value, the album had an unprecedented cleanliness about it, but it still retained some of that good ol' MM dissonance. Beatiful, but dark and booding at times. We were introduced to a different side of the band and the creative forces that drive it, and I hear people write it off all the time for no other reason than it wasn't the same as their older material. It showed growth.

I'm not discrediting the older stuff. I mean, "Lonesome Crowded West", and "Build Nothing out of Something" are definitely favorites of mine. And I can't listen to "This is a Long Drive" without finding myself mulling over different life events. But "Good News" really found MM at the top of their game.

In my humble opinion.

Good News was my introduction to Modest Mouse. I mean it has its moments but for me is kinda hollow. It has this kinda fake feel to me. Like Brock is trying SOOO hard to keep his edge intact while having this super polished sound that was a continuation from The Moon & Antarctica(first album with major label). The album has it's successes, but it is certainly not without its share of failures too.

I was listening to Lonesome Crowded West earlier today and it finally clicked with me on how good the album is. I always thought it was completely overrated but now I think it deserves the praise it gets. I still don't think it's as good as Moon & Antarctica but pretty damn close.

This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About is pritty awesome up until the track lounge, after that it's pritty hit and miss. Still a great album would probably fit in my top 100.

As in you enjoy 'Lounge' or you dislike it? Personally, I feel it is one of the best tracks on the CD...

The Moon & Antarctica is one of my favourite albums ever. I've also got The Lonesome Crowded West but haven't listened to it often enough to really offer any proper opinion on it, though I have liked the parts I can remember.
