are we allowed to post stuff about our band here just wanted to know before i did thanks

if you just joined to plug your band and that only, then no, and the moderators will delete your posts and then ban you.

however if you joined because you like this site and want to join in on the discussions, and you happen to have a band that you'd like to show people, then just take some time here to actually become a member of the community(post regularly, get to know some people here, etc.) and then start yourself a journal where you can talk about your music and band.

cool thanks just wanted to know did not want to be considered a spammer or just some dumb guy trying to push his band. and Mr. dave i tried to chat rooms before and new here just wanted to know how not to get in trouble. But we all can not be chat room experts can we

Promoting and advertising own bands/sites/projects/etc is prohibited, at least to members as fresh as yourself.
