Seriously, does nobody do a search anymore before making a new thread?

What? Pitchfork gave this over a 9? I really liked it, but I didn't they'd give it a best new music. I saw Embryonic was in that club, which I agree with. But there's no way Girls is on par with that. I'd be really interested in seeing how they do their ratings, I sometimes wonder if they throw a dart to determine a score between 6 and 9 for some things. Like, I noticed Memory Tapes and Warm Heart of Africa. Now don't get me wrong, I posted both of those a while ago and they're good, but there's no way in hell they deserves a best new music. According to the number of albums that get that, that means those are pretty much their top 25 of the year.

EDIT: And sorry asshat, I gotta disagree with you. Farm, Cathedral with No Eyes, Embryonic, A Sunny Day In Glasgow, Wind's Poem, and maybe Earthly Delights certainly deserve a 9 on their rating scale, but that's all I can think of right now. None of the stuff they gave it to.

different strokes for different folks. but i agree with your girls assessment. is it just me or do most the songs seem the same? like i really like lust for life. other than that, the majority of the songs seem to be interchangeable. and musically, most of it bores me. its just some guy being emo-talking over uninspiring music.

I finally gave it a listen and I think it's actually a good album. I wouldn't have given it 9, but there's a very good chance I'll end up listening to this album on a semi regular basis.
