Willy Mason

Just brought this guys debut album, its called "where the humans eat". have to say its one of the finest albums ive ever heard and thats no exaggeration- he wil be huge. its inevitable hes going to be compared to dillon and to be honest, i can see why. the album has a very chilled feel to it- its simplicity is its strength: guitar, drums, vocals. despite its simplicity its not folk yet its not indie or alternative either, he is hard to categorize, yet the point is his lyrics are both passionate and soulful, they will move you- this is the guy to lead the new generation. finally, in this period of music ****dom, we have a true artist emerging. anyway, i like the guy as you can see, what do those of you who've heard him think? and if you havent heard him..just listen to "oxygen".

Sweet Jane 01-24-2005 12:24 PM

I heard Oxygen a couple times, its not bad. But it was just on in the background, wasn't really assessing it. He's touring the UK now, was gonna go along with my mate to check him out as she wanted to go, but it just sold out.

saw him at the gonzo tour briefly- thats how i got into him. hes ok live, half the people didnt know who he was though so they kinda just stood there silent. he probably was the highlight of the whole thing though.

Willy MAson...next best thing maybe?

hello.. ive heard "oxygen" and thats all.. but to be honest.thats all i need to hear. hes a ****ing genuis if you ask me? very good indeed. dont want him to be over-recognised though or he'll soon become very like damien rice. He'll only have knacker fans who think they have a ****ing clue about everything. Hes gonna do well though. does anyone think that in some of the pics on his website he looks frightfully like jeff buckley? oh jeff... *sigh*

Sneer 02-14-2005 03:19 PM

i like how unlike a lot of stuff around at the moment, he relies on lyrics to sell records- and the lyrics are very relevant and meaningful. theres no glam to this guy, just musical talent and no fuss. gotta keep moving is great but my favourite track by far is oxygen. i also like still a fly and hard hand to hold. his music just relaxes me.

You've hit the nail on the head their dude. It relaxes me to. strange how music can chill us out like that init? then i guess we must be strange types of people - hey were on a music web forum for **** sake!!! lol!!

talking of strange my mates take the piss for my new found liking to mr mason, thats probably why im blabbering on about him here - my mates dont appreciate it. what bout you, you lucky enough to have mates that like you music/taste or like me are you on your own on that one!!!

by the way i must recommend a great mason track not on 'where the humans eat', its called 'live it up' off of his '5 song untitled EP'. check it out on amazon theres a sample.

what genre would you put mason, i just cant put my finger on what his music is about!!!???!!!

Sneer 03-02-2005 02:50 PM

hes not really my mates type of music, though 2 of them have borrowed the album off me and stated they like it. id say if anything hes folk with a bit rockabilly and blues blended in. havent got round to buying the EP though i definetly will at some point!! im taken the piss out of by 1 or 2 for liking him too, but hey, **** em.

Delicate 03-03-2005 02:13 AM

Tell me about it. My 'friends' like to ridicule me about my 'non-mainstreme' taste in music and my rather 'piss poor' dress sence (though even i admit that) still must be something to do with my music love. I get the piss taken out of me for wearing silly wristbands and hippy braclets, and my strippy t-shirts just make them laugh.

do you dress like someone of 'dodgy taste' like myself - soz i sound like im ***ing you up here, just dont know many people of similar strange taste to me!!

Yer folk music - sound like a suitable genre for willyboy's music - so would you say that you are a folk music fan then?!?

what other music similar to mason would you recomend!?!?

:band:

Sneer 03-03-2005 10:27 AM

you sound remarkably like a guy i know, hmm, if i didnt know better id say your rob or paul.

Tommyrocker 03-03-2005 10:38 AM

no hobbies of my own (209 and 990 posts on a site talking to random people about music.) if thats what you call a hobbie then i'll give that a miss.

o yer and eyeliner - thats just a man in drag - no mater how much poncey 'o be open minded' or 'think outside the box' crap your put on it, you still on a par with the great lilly savage. Have fun with this boys!

Tommyrocker 03-03-2005 12:50 PM
