The only ones I would hesitate to recommend are the first two - they're pretty raw and and scary and probably for Birthday Party fans only. They're mighty good though.
Your Funeral My Trial and Tender Prey are more Southern Gothic. Is Nick lamenting his woman because she left him or because he killed her and buried her in the back yard? You're never quite sure. Brilliant stuff. The Good Son is probably unlike any other album in the Seed's catalog. You could call it the first Ballad album, but it's a lot darker and weirder than later stuff like Boatman's. Many think it's among their very best work, and I tend to agree. Henry's Dream and Let Love In are, I think, the albums where the modern version of the Seeds really came into their own. Still very gothic and dark but much more polished and assured musically. 'Let Love In' is one of my all time favorite records. All highly recommended!!! |
