I don't think he gets enough credit for being an amazing piano player.

Glad this thread was bumped. I've been obsessed with finding good covers for the "The Ship Song," but I always find myself coming right back to Nick's version at the end of the day. I've dabbled a good bit in most of his more well-known tracks (such as "The Weeping Song" and his "Hallelujah" cover, etc), and I've been meaning to dig a little deeper into his work, as I love his overall style.. Which album is a good starter to get me going?? |

It's not like I just started using the Internet yesterday and have no idea how people use the term "spam." |
Nick Cave reminds me of film noir. The grim content is more used for shock value/artistic quality rather than resonance. Actually, noir with a Nick Cave spoundtrack would be cool.

Did he do any noir?

Speaking of all of that, and there's a Nick Cave connection here: this is better than Nick Cave, too:

^uh no

Actually got to see this guy live over the summer. If you get the chance - go! He's maybe one of the best live shows I've ever seen.

****ing Hell! Welcome back, Big 3! :yikes:

So what did you all think about Ghosteen and Carnage?

And given your feeling on these two albums, what's your favorite Cave album? |
Skeleton Key. It felt darker.
Boatman's Call which I suspect is now buttock. |
You mean Skeleton Tree?
It's been a minute since I've listened to Boatman's Call, but I can't say I was ever enamored with that one. Too slow/subdued. Not enough variety. I think I preferred the Good Son to that album if we're talking about Cave's more laid-back/acoustic efforts. |
I mean it's hard to pick an album because I like his changes. I love Tupelo, Dig Yourself (this was actually a killer album), West Country Girl, Stagger Lee
Sorry, yes, Skeleton Tree |
I don't think I ever listened to a full Nick Cave album. One of those guys that's very familiar and I like some of his songs, but it never interested me enough to seek out more of his music. Should put it on my to-do list.
I saw One More Time With Feeling and liked it. He's great in a cinematic setting. |

Prayers on Fire is the best Birthday Party album imo. Check it out if you haven't. |
