I'm starting to wonder if this is really a music board if we're not even discussing the new album, Push the Sky Away. Well, it hasn't been released officially but it's leaked, so some of us might've heard it already.

I'd say it's an 8.5/10 for me, it's a really great album. Just like The Boatman's Call it's more of a calm, ballady album but it has more variation than The Boatman's Call and I just think it's better overall, really. Third album of 2013 I listened to and my second favoruite so far (m b v probably won't be topped this year)

I really like it, I've listened to it a couple of times and some tracks are starting to stand out. We No Who U R and Jubilee Street are spectacular.

Dude, this thread is eight years old. How in god's name is this thread eight years old?! I don't know, but on December 24, 2014, I'm posting in this thread if it's not still going just for the novelty of it.

So, you and PowerPunisher are actually kindred spirits?

Had you seen the crap threads that were clogging up the indie forum in 2004 you would have written the exact same thing.

The Foo Fighters Are Awesome
The Music are Great
Who else loves the Kaiser Chiefs

You know, for an ornery old man who bitches that this place used to have standards, whenever I see threads from a few years ago, the people posting on them are just atrocious. As far as I can see this site is on a high note.

I consider the high point to be between 2007 & 2009, the place started going downhill when the new owners took over.

Don't feel bad. This site now has me. So it's all good.

Did anyone catch Nick and the Seeds on Austin City Limits? Funny to catch the boys on Public TV but they put on a hell of a show. It's interesting to see the Mach III version of the Seeds in a live situation. They are a very different band than the one I saw on the Murder Ballads tour. Warren Ellis is the musical heart of the band now. Where Mick Harvey developed a lush, orchestral sound, Ellis pares things back to a more harsh, skeletal sonic palette that is equally compelling.

Funnily enough, the bulk of the show was taken up with extended versions of pitch black early songs like 'Tupelo', 'From Her to Eternity' and 'The Mercy Seat'. It was nice to see that Nick has lost none of his incantatory power in conjuring these older songs. Barry Adamson was back in the fold also, which was very cool.

I thought 'Push the Sky' was a very good album, and I look forward to whatever these guys do next.
