Scott Matthew
I don't believe we have a thread on this bloke. Not to be confused with Scott Matthews (not that I know who that is). According to his bio, he's an Australian native who moved to New York a little more than a decade ago. I first encountered his work in the John Cameron Mitchell's spectacular "sexual comedy" Shortbus, which features about half a dozen of his songs and a performance near the end. I've given his latest album, There Is An Ocean That Divides And With My Longing I Can Charge It With A Voltage Thats So Violent To Cross It Could Mean Death (yes, that's the actual album title) a once over and it seems very good. I believe they compare his music to the likes of Antony and the Johnsons and Bonnie Prince Billy. For the anime geeks, apparently he also sang on the Cowboy beebop movie and Ghost in the shell: Stand alone complex soundtracks... Crap video but good song. scott matthew on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads
