El Guincho

Is it just me or does this guy rip off Animal collective? Or is it vice-versa? http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...wer/unsure.gif

This band sucks. I tried listening to Alegranza and it was just a bunch of annoying cheery shit. I've never been more disgusted by Latin music.

*sigh* Another band that only I like.:o:

There seems too much of a tropical dub influence to be like animal collective.

Firstly it's not a band, it's a dude's recording alias. Secondly, Alegranza! is fantastic. It takes quite a bit of listening to get into, but once you do, it's hypnotic.

I completely get the Animal Collective comparisons (though I'm thinking more along the lines of Panda Bear and Person Pitch). I doubt though whether the artist's idea was to try to be the Spanish Panda Bear. It's probably more the other way around: Animal Collective aspire to integrate into their sounds the sort of world music elements that you find in this sort of recording.

Great recording artist, super album.

Nah dude, Panda bear is much more mellow than this. Alegranza actually reminded me a lot of Merriweather, in terms of song structure at least, only without the perfectionist production and the harmonious vocals.

In the end, I don't reckon it's not TOO much like either.

Upon listening to it the first thing to come to mind was definitely Person Pitch, mostly for the repetitious aspect. But I also felt Strawberry Jam lurking somewhere.

Anyway, do you like it? I think this album's brill.

Not sure really, I'm not really diggin the vocals but I'll give it a few more spins.

Animal Collective en espanol. I don't mind though. It's a good enough album.

bit inconsistent but some of the songs are pretty great

in retrospect, so much fun

Just picked this up. Alegranza is a lot of fun to listen to, but takes some getting used to.

I enjoy the latin aspect, and the production does remind me of animal collective. And ya... its hard to get into the vocals when I don't understand spanish... pretty good stuff anyway.

edit: just heard Polka Mazurca... enjoyed it.
