I don't know if I should classify them as dream pop or shoegaze, but I don't think I've listened to them enough to really do so anyway. "After Summer" is one my favorite albums of 2008 and I thought that they might deserve a thread.

I only recently really discovered shoegaze/dream pop and I was wondering if you'd be able to clarify the difference for me? I just don't really know enough bands or what artists are considered to be. I think it overlaps but shoegaze tends to be noisier, more dependent on noise and distorted guitars while dream pop focuses on a more ambient sound with synths and keyboards and a calmer sound. Is that right?
