I saw them at Leeds fest 2007 subbing to RHCP and they genuinely completely upstaged RHCP. Also saw them last Friday at Leeds and they are honestly one of the best live acts in the world.
They played Power Out straight into Rebellion and it was just insane. They were amazing anyway but this moment completely stepped up their game. |

I saw them at KROQ Inland Invasion when I was a freshman in high school, having no idea who they were. We were sitting a million miles away, the sound was awful, and the heat was nauseating. I delayed picking up Funeral for a good few months based mostly on that wack experience, which is really just joke's on me seeing as how I deprived myself of "Rebellion" and "Laika" for that period.
I haven't really given The Suburbs my undivided attention yet (I'm booked solid what with the new Women, No Age, Deerhunter, Books, etc) but from what I've heard it's pretty solid and a step in new directions for them. Also the girls seem to love it, which is always a plus. |

It doesn't aim for the same levels of bombast as their previous two albums, perhaps? But it makes it's points in an equally memorable way, and as a whole, it's a phenomenal album, IMO.
I have not had the pleasure of seeing them live, which is a cryin' shame, because it sounds like they are nothing short of amazing and awe inspiring.

I've got a buddy/co-worker who drove to Calgary to see them this past weekend. It's not the first time he's gone to reasonably great lengths to catch an Arcade Fire show - he swears by their performances as a near-religious experience.
I've never seen them live, though. And I don't know that I would share his enthusiasm even if I did. I like them just fine, own the albums, etc., but I can't say they're in my Top 5 anything, really. Then again, there are a few bands I do not like at all on CD but I'd always go to their nearby shows because they're simply different animals live. (Finger 11 being one example). Moral of Story: I should probably check out an Arcade Fire show one day... |

Of course they had to schedule their Dublin show so close to my semester 1 exams i'll probably still go anyway, screw it.
I've only seen them once before, that was 3 years ago at a festival when they were touring Neon Bible and i was a little bit let down. I don't think outdoor venues really suit them though which is why i'm dying to see them in an indoor venue where they'll more than likely be out of this world.
