Default The Phantom Band

Is the first big new band from the UK this year. judging by their excellent debut, I hope so. Describing themselves as a 'Proto-Robofolk band' is probably the best description you can give them. Nick Cave seems to be a big influence but there is all sorts of sounds coming out of the debut (PM). Give them a listen folks:

I think we can sort that out It's nothing spectacular but it's still damn good stuff and a nice antidote to the crappy 'indie' dominating our fair isle recently.

Sounds alright to me. I'll keep an eye out for them - I need to get some good contemporary stuff.

Cheers for the heads-up.

Something unusual, that's for sure.

I'd be interested in hearing a bit more.

Wow, super cool. It reminds me of The Sisters of Mercy a bit.

I see where this 'Proto-Robofolk' is coming from, but nothing amusing though. It just has this modern rock kinda sound with a small twist, which I suppose isn't all that bad at all . They've got some ideas floating around, which hopefully would become something more and not a trend. Only time will tell.
