Cranes
Now I am finally getting their back catalogue, it's time to introduce a great band from the 90's: Cranes. Led by Alison Shaw's almost childlike vocal phrasing. They played a hybrid dream pop/ avant garde shoegaze type of thing. Just check the vid's and enjoy.
Star Blood: Tomorrow's Tears: |
Very bizarre-sounding stuff - I like it. I was about to point out the Einsturzende Neubauten link before that video did as well.
Worth checking out in my books. Any albums you'd recommend? |
Wings Of Joy is by far my favourite but Forever is damn good too.

Been listening to Wings Of Joy a few times. Very dark, sinister stuff, I liked it. In most places anyway. Tomorrow's Tears is probably my favourite on itat the moment, but I can see that changing - it's a very strong body of work. Basically, the album gets my official stamp of approval - cheers for the heads-up Jackhammer

I've only listened to their self titled album and it is fantastic. The more you listen the more you appreciate her voice. If I get the time, I fully intend to delve deeper into this band.

I saw them open for the Cure on the Wish tour, all I can remember is that their drums actually shook my ribcage

They remind of the Cocteau Twins with the volume turned up. Starblood was the very first track I heard from them on the John Peel show and I was instantly hooked.

Forever is fucking great. Like the Cocteau Twins but heavier and more sinsister. I love her voice coupled with the jagged, angular, hammer horror guitar/piano work, so good. Wings of Joy is next on my list.
