Clann Zu

An Australian/Irish rock band, with a lot post-rockish ambiance, celtic/irish folk influences, classical and even some trip-hop thrown in.
They have already disbanded, but released two albums before that.

Rua, their debut, has more of this irish folk influences I'm talking about. Needless to say, It has all the other elements I mentioned as well.
The follow up, Black Coats & Bandages, is quite similar although the Irish influences are reduced a bit.

Give em a listen. Some of you might like it!

Oh yeah. Hit me with that schizz. It's hardly groundbreaking but it's instantly likeable.

Demonoid 11-23-2008 01:14 PM

Groundbreaking is definitely a hard thing to get these days ;).
More like taking the good bits from different artists and putting it together.
Anyways, expect a PM soon enough.

I have to say demonoid that I greatly Admire your tastes in music. Always surprising, interesting and a little left of centre :)

Demonoid 11-23-2008 01:29 PM

Oh *Blushes* :p:
I think most of my favorites are popular well known stuff, but there's nothing much to talk about it.(unless I have something new to add in the form of bootleg/rare videos etc.)

I really liked the first 2 songs you linked. The music is absolutely stunning; the vocals I might have to warm up to, but it's still good stuff.

Demonoid 11-23-2008 02:37 PM

Well, more is just a PM away if you'd like :)

simplephysics 11-23-2008 02:54 PM

I'd love to hear more :)

jackhammer 11-23-2008 02:58 PM

Just listening now. The vocals are definitely the weakest point but I love the music and the slight whiff of Electronica permeating it all. All in all-impressed and it will definitely get plenty more listens.

Demonoid 11-23-2008 03:05 PM

Even I thought the vocals were a bit weak. His voice was fine, but just the way he sings didn't work sometimes.

Rua is a really engaging album, I haven't listened in a while but I loved it when it was first out. Haven't heard the other one, how does it compare?

Sneer 03-19-2009 12:41 PM

I am ragging Black Coats & Bandages atm. Beautiful album, great blend of post-rock and folk

mannny 03-19-2009 02:13 PM

Wow, I just saw this thread, and I'm really intrigued. Could anyone get an up for me please?

Bulldog 03-19-2009 03:17 PM

These guys sound fantastic. I've been on the lookout for this kinda stuff. If it's no bother, I'd really appreciate an up :)

Sneer 03-19-2009 03:24 PM

I'll try and sort you guys out with an up of BC&B later if you've had no luck

Demonoid 03-20-2009 01:40 AM

I'll see what I could do. My link doesn't seem to work anymore. (or I've lost it :p:)

Bulldog 03-21-2009 04:41 AM

Just gotta say, I'm loving this Rua album at the minute. These guys are just fantastic - they kinda remind me of the Triffids, just with some synthetic beats and a few more elements of Irish folk thrown in. There are these terrific moments where they sound a bit like Transglobal Underground too (to these ears).

Cheers for this Demonoid.
