Blue

I couldn't find a thread on her (which I found really surprising, I honestly think I must be wrong), so I decided to start one. Blue is an absolutely incredible album. It completely blew me away when I heard it. I must've listened to it 4 times that first day I gave it a listen. It was so different from the music I normally listen to because it was so raw, and her lyrics are so intimate and honest. I think she's really an incredible writer, I love her words.

I recently picked up Ladies of the Canyon actually, and also though it was really, really great. I think I may pick up Court and Spark next. Any other fans here?

I may be considered a fan. I have thoroughly enjoyed everything I've heard by her. I want the album Blue....I should download it...

I highly encourage it. I've heard by a lot of people that they consider it her best album too.

Yeah, what I've heard too. Did you see that video of her playing in woodstock and she gets pissed off because they're not acting nicely and she tells them so?

No, though, from what I know, she wasn't at Woodstock. I think she wrote the song Woodstock while it was happening because she heard about it from Graham Nash. Though, I may be wrong.

Thanks for showing me that, and I agree with her wholeheartedly. As a musician myself, I put all I have into my music, and if people were just shouting, hollering and acting like tourists, as she put it, I'd be upset too. What I'm/she's playing means something to me/her, and it's hard to get that out when people are acting in such a manner. It's like all those people that go to a Radiohead gig (just an example), and just shout out to hear Creep, Karma Police or the general hits. I guess in a sense that's on a bit of a different wave, but still, show some respect to the person pouring their emotions into the music they're playing for you rather then just shouting and hollering like a buffoon.

I agree but with that said, that of course comes with being a musician. It's just something you'll have to learn to tolerate.

My favourite album of hers is Hejira. The live album Shadows And Light is a stunning live album. Great band line up too. This is a brilliant performance of the Jazz classic 'Goodbye Pork Pie Hat' from that album:

There's a very funny anecdote in John Lydon's autobiography about when he and Don Letts met her (I'd quote it here, but the lazy sod didn't write an index) but that's about all I've heard of her. I can see myself getting into her music in future though
