...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead

What do you guys think of 'em? My favorite songs from them have to be "Another Morning Stoner", "How Near, How Far", "Madonna", "Relative Ways", among others. Great band. (Y)

major bump

I love them. I recently got all their albums. Source Tags and codes is my favorite album. Before I heard any of their music I thought they were some pop emo band, because their name sucks, so, I refused to listen them for a long time. But, they kick major ass.

Urban Hat€monger ? 07-05-2006 10:43 PM

I still think Madonna is their best album. STAC just doesn`t do it for me for some reason.

crow t robot 07-06-2006 05:10 PM

I love Source Tags and Codes, but for some reason, I'm hesitant to buy anymore of their albums...fear of dissapointment I guess...are they consistently as good as STAC?

deadflagblues 07-07-2006 01:54 PM

STAC is my favorite, but madonna is a -very- close second.

Sound Devastation 07-07-2006 02:53 PM

Dead Flag Blues... a Godspeed fan?

i have STAC and Worlds Apart, both of which i really enjoy.. will get round to getting hold of madonna sometime.

dressing up 08-04-2006 12:22 PM

Source Tags is the best album, but Worlds Apart really disappointed me. Too much filler.

sleepy jack 08-04-2006 02:16 PM

I only have Madonna, I love it.

Alo 11-03-2006 08:55 PM

I just got World's Apart, I like it! Does anyone have some more uploads? :D

Sneer 11-04-2006 06:28 PM

Thanks!

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-05-2006 10:58 PM

Heard their new album.

Not terrible but probably their most watered down & commercial sadly.

Blain 11-05-2006 11:37 PM

I thought Madonna was really good, thanks Ethan

Alo 11-06-2006 11:27 AM

Sorry ><

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-06-2006 11:30 AM

Bump?

This thread was like third from the top of the first page and was only posted in a few hours ago.

Collective Unconsciousnes 11-07-2006 09:15 AM

Sometimes I hear these guys playing the background and I'm like... how did Nine inch nails get on this playlist... lol I dunno sometimes parts of their songs remind of NiN.... I must be going crazy

anyone else listen to these guys besides me? their past two albums have been really average, but there is one album that makes up for all of it.

Gentlemen, i present one of the greatest albums of all time.

this album is absolutely beautiful, and contends with Aeroplane as the greatest indie record of all time.

anyone who hasnt heard the album needs to pick it up and listen. heres a preview;

YouTube - how near, how far

discussions?

lucifer_sam 08-20-2008 12:36 AM

Madonna is better. =P

They have one of the coolest band names ever, and some of their heavier shit really makes it evident how appropriate it was. I never thought they were Indie though (maybe on an Indie label but not in terms of genre). The closest thing I could compare them with is Faith No More...

15Steps 08-20-2008 12:42 AM

ignore this

lucifer_sam 08-20-2008 12:57 AM

No, I'm not joking. Madonna is a much, much better album than their self-titled, and a more elaborate record than Source Codes. Have you listened to it yet?

http://www.thepunkguy.com/music/andead_vin_5.jpg

This was the album that made me start liking them, anyways. I can't stand anything after Source Tags though...

Madonna > Source Tags and Codes > s/t > everything else

Clear it up a bit?

15Steps 08-20-2008 01:28 AM

ignore this im an idiot.

boo boo 08-20-2008 01:36 AM

I'm pretty sure they're Indie, nothing else would explain such a horrible and pretentious band name.

Seltzer 08-20-2008 04:38 AM

They're one of those bands I really should have checked out but haven't (apart from a couple of songs).

WRONG

If anything they have some prog influences in the way that some post punk bands like P.I.L or The Cardiacs did.

So where do you think they belong then?

What I've heard sounds like the usual alternative stuff to me,

Post rock and math rock bands are pretty prog influenced too but I think they belong in the indie/alternative section.

lucifer_sam 08-20-2008 08:17 PM

You should give 'em another click. Madonna is absolutely gorgeous. And Urb is right, they carry more prog influences than anything else. I absolutely hate 95-99% of modern alternative music, and I had no trouble latching onto them.

15Steps 08-20-2008 11:40 PM

source tags and codes reminds me of a more of like an angry version of loveless.

zneergz 08-30-2008 12:47 PM

I would probably say post-punk/prog in my opinion.

Favourite album - Source Tags & Codes

Favourite songs (so far) - Another morning stoner, It was there I saw you.

Great band... I really see a mix of filter + NIN.

Pornographie Nouveau 11-27-2008 10:17 AM

Ah, I really love this band. Their first album is surprisingly good once you get into it. Very nice "sophistipunk". Though I like their first three albums pretty equally. Everything after ST&C does nothing for me. The new album is supposedly going back to their roots, so it might be good.

dac 09-24-2009 12:34 PM

Seeing them tonight. Pretty damn excited.

Might see them again next month. Saw them on the Worlds Apart tour (the album I like least) and I was dead tired that night...the rest of the crowd seemed it too. Also it didn't seem like people wanted to hear the then-new material, and I think the band could tell. Anyway just trying to decide whether to see them or another show the same night. The new album was a great return to form so it could be a much better show than the last time. Different city, smaller venue too.

I saw them at a real small venue and stood front and center. They played mostly old stuff and it was great... maybe the best concert I've ever been to.

sidewinder 10-02-2009 08:32 PM

Well...thanks for the incentive.

scottsy 10-02-2009 11:02 PM

Lots of people seem to exclaim that they were disappointed with Worlds Apart.... but I just thought it was sublimely great! I especially loved Let it Dive... a song that still clutches at my heart...
