Make Yourself was a pretty good one.
So was Morning View They're no album though is probably gonna be really something. Their song Anna Molly is really amazing. First real Incubus song in a while. They're coming to Philly January 29th. Tickets went on sell today. Gotta see that

Make Yourself..was a great album as well as Morning View...I think Brandon's voice is very distinct in nature and lyrically they are very talented..
Instrumentally...well...

1995 Fungus Amongus
took me some time to get the album, took me even more time to get used to that funk-driven experimental sound I wasn't used to. Still to this day I don't have an opinion on many of the tracks, that's why I wouldn't want to rate them seperatly. Overall for me it's a great album to listen to when my mood suits it. I'd give it a 7/10 stand-out tracks are: take me to your leader & psychopsilocybin 1997 S.C.I.E.N.C.E. 2nd album is still rather experimental, but with more emphasis on the guitar sound on choruses (which dominates on all later albums). To me it provides the greatest combination of incubus sound variety, it's straight forward and loud, mostly fast, rhythmic, with sudden changes in sound + it has my favorite artwork on the cover what it lacks is the later typical Incubus ballad - though those don't even seem neccessary to many, they're often the catchiest tracks.. so.. however: 01) redefine good intro track, lots of DJ scratching, very funky still, but quite noisy at the end (good transition track between the two albums), but to me, the melody is a bit boring (6/10) 02) vitamin one of my favorites, great electro sound on verses, and heavy guitar on the chorus, later bongo drums converting to the original sound again (9/10) 03) new skin nohing that special, except the bridge at about 2:25 with nice scratching over guitar (7/10) 04) idiot box another favorite. great melody, with short breaks in between guitar playing that intensify the guitar again. also spherical guitar + drum sound on verses. (9/10) 05) glass heavy on the bass, which I like, very funky in between heavy guitars again. (9/10) 06) magic medicine non-sense interlude, sounds like some background music of a video game menu (3/10) 07) a certain shade of green favorite of many, I believe this track heavily determined the direction Incubus would take on their later cds. still very rhythmic, but again more emphasis on the guitar and melodies. except for the very funky bridge (8.5/10) 08) favorite things another favorite track on the album. dominated by the guitar and the drumms. (9.5/10) 09) summer romance very chill-out stand out track. very groovy. uncommon deep singing by Brandon on the verses, dominated by bass line. has a saxophone in it! (10/10) 10) nebula very fast track, with lots of different noises on it. (7/10) 11) deep inside bring the funk, man! again with bongos. guitar "solo" at the end (7.5/10) 12) calgone spacey athmosphere at the beginning and in the middle with slowly sung words, in heavy contrast to break down parts. love that song aswell (9.5/10) 13) fade out very experimental fading out lasting about 10 min.. it's probably not even bad, at parts even really funny, but nothing I would listen to repeatedly (2/10) so overall it's an (not counting the fade out track, because I can simply stop the cd before it starts) 8/10 Last edited by iksosept; 06-16-2016 at 12:28 PM. |

everything up to an including morning view was amazing. a crow left of the murder and light grenades really came forward and defined them as an alt-metal band but they weren't bad, i just miss the funk-experimental days of old.

There drummer and guitarist are fantastic. Both do quite a few side projects and are on a DVD that helps plays get better. Just listen to some of the instrumental parts on Crow Left of the Murder.

I think they fell off. Hard. S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was one of the best rock records ever... and then... yeah, nothing but mediocrity from there on out. Plenty of highlights on the rest of there records but nothing that comes close. It's kinda unfortunate. (tear)
