I'm very picky when it comes to young upstarts claiming to be a genre I enjoy

Depends what you'd class as noise rock i suppose, it's one of those vague terms but i have to admit it's a style that i have come to adore lately.
I have no problem with them being called noise rock. It's fucking noisy and it's rock music with an experimental edge to it. Edit: To be fair i also feel an element of pop punk to an extent with them as well so... y'know :p |

I finally got a chance to check out Nouns today. I thought it was pretty good though I'm not crazy about how it was mixed. The noisy elements are very much in the background and I think most of the songs would sound better with the noise dialed up a bit. I bet these guys are pretty good live though.
Also, one thing I was surprised by about them was how much some of the guitar work reminded me of Bob Mould. Definitely wasn't expecting that. |

^Nouns isn't their debut, it's just their 'breakthrough' album. Aka their album Pitchfork bums to death.
And while Nouns is debatable when it comes to calling it noise rock, it's hard to deny the noisiness of Weirdo Rippers. |
