They are great! I was lucky enough to see them live for free, at this convention I was at. They played on a stage only a foot and a half off the ground, and I was standing right in front of the lead singer, touching the stage. He leaned out over the crowd a bunch...I could have even grabbed him if I wanted.
Afterwards, I was talking to one of the guitarists, with a beer in my hand...he looked down and asked how old I was. (His guess was 20, and needless to say, I'm not.) It was a great time.

Actually they sounded pretty similar live...which means they really aren't over-edited at all. It's great to see a CANADIAN band making great music like that.
What are your favourite songs by them?

Good band. Currently have Action Pact, Twice Removed (incredible album), and Pretty Together. Seen them live a couple times, live show is actually pretty comparable to their recorded stuff---sounds really similar, which of course has it's ups and downs.

sloan is so awesome. i've been such a fan since i was like 11, finally this year i saw them and got to meet them and chat with them. needless to say it was amazing, the show and their humble, laidback coolness. i love underwelmed, snowsuit sound and the lines you amend the best. so many great songs and what a great live band. sloan you must "live oooonnnnn"!

I have seen sloan many, many times. Have been a fan since the beginning. In the mid-late 90's they were the only real good times rocknroll group around. Its odd that now so many bands (Jet, muse, even the strokes) etc are playing the same style Sloan has played for years. There really isnt a lead vocalist, all members sing (and write) almost equally. Check out People of the Sky off Twice removed. the drummer sings lead vocals while another band member plays drums. great song
