that Age of the understatement song is growing on me big time

now for me the Arctic Monkeys are only good for 'Teddy Picker'

But I like Alex Turner as an individual

and the collaboration looks to be better than the AM

The collaboration's supposed to be epic.
They did two secret gigs in NYC and from what I've heard it's all pretty amazing.
Youtube it.

I truly like the Arctic Monkeys way better. Shadow Puppets lack the edginess and faster tempo and that made me a little disappointed. I hope Alex Turner doesn't stray for to long.

Don't mind the slow-tempo but the lyrics lack in comparison to the Arctic Monkeys.

It's not Alex Turner's project as he's not the leader of the Last Shadow Puppets, Miles Kane is. People should stop comparing these two. Why don't we compare them to The Rascals for a change.

Anyway, I don't like the Arctic Monkeys or The Rascals, still I'm addicted to the Last Shadow Puppets, and 2 years after the release of their album. They're definitely underrated. I consider the album The Age of the Understatement, to be a kind of a concept album, it should be listened to from beginning till the end, moving from edgy fast tempos to mellow heart breaking tunes. It just balances itself in a way, you feel there's a lifetime being told to you throughout the album. Finally, it's got the greatest arrangements, so epic at times with the London Metropolitan Orchestra, and then you relax with the smooth acoustic guitar accompaniment.

So, my most played track, according to my iTunes:

Enjoy.

Edit: Btw, that is the band that got me to listen to The Beatles, after reading that the members' main influence is John Lennon... and of course with that mop top look, it was kinda obvious. I guess that's why they have a special place in my heart. To most it's Oasis, that got them interested with the 60s, to me it's these guys.

Arctic Monkeys are planning to record an album at the end of 2010, releasing it in 2011. I hope for a second LSP album, and when Arctic Monkeys come to an end (which I think it will) I hope Alex and Miles grow old together with the LSP. 60s feel to it which is what a lot of bands lack today, which isn't a bad thing, people wanting to move forward. It's nice to see a band that holds the 60s roots close to them.

Thumbs up

In agreement about the comparison, The Last Shadow Puppets are definitely more comparable to The Rascals. In terms of personal taste I am more of an Arctic Monkey’s fan and I dig the whole 60’s Beatlesque sound but I appreciate diversity and I find both albums Rascalize and The Age of the Understatement disappointing in that respect. The Last Shadow Puppets also charged a lot for their debut performance in the Netherlands which left a bad taste in my mouth. I strongly advocate supporting Artists but I do think you need to make your mark first. Nevertheless it remains and interesting project and I wonder if they will try to experiment with their sound in the future.
