It's acoustic music, of course it's not going to be terribly original. It's the quality of the music and his vocal interpretation that make it stand out far above most similar albums.

Have you heard Mount Eerie, Lost Wisdom? I think that is a better folk album than For Emma. |
lost wisdom is awesome. all mount eerie/the microphones stuff is.
but i think bon iver is good. |
what are peoples thoughts on his new ep, the second track, woods, i didnt like it at all at the start, it is however growing on me. Overrall though i dont think it is up to the standard of for emma at all

I didn't realise it was released in 2007 originally... and here's me banging on about how Skinny Love was the track of last year... what made him so popular suddenly? Vicious word of mouth?
|
he self released the album in 2007 and then he got signed to label and got a major release in '08.
I guess that contributed some bit, but as far as i know he got a write up in Pitchfork, which despite its lack of musical inteligence, has a huge following. Im guesing they played a big part |
I converted Musicbanter :D
|
He opened for Wilco at a concert I went to over the summer so that was pretty cool.
|
I need to relisten to the EP as the quality was terrible and I did'nt replace it.
|
Some of the songs are ok but this album was a bit snoozy for me. Therefore I never listen to it.
One accoustic sounding album that I really got into was the Accidental's There Were Wolves. |
