Beach house
From last.fm:
"Beach House: Alex Scally (guitar/keyboards) and Victoria Legrand (vocals/keyboards), the latter of whom is the niece of French composer Michel Legrand, create the dreamy lo-fi sounds of Beach House. The Baltimore duo formed in 2005 with Legrand's vocal hush and Scally's delicate instrumentation. Within a year, Beach House charmed indie music enthusiasts across the blogosphere with their languid song craft, while the eerie warmth of "Apple Orchard" landed on Pitchfork's Infinite Mixtape MP3 series in August 2006. Two months later, Beach House issued their eponymous debut album for Carpark. Fall shows with label mates Over The Atlantic were also scheduled." You came to me from the new album, Devotion: Rather odd lo-fi with beautiful vocals (extremely reminiscent of Katrina Ford from Celebration). Give it a whirl if you haven't already. |
I've been listening to the new record a lot this week for the show.
Man do I love shoegaze. |

This record's a compact discappointment. It's only good for a few tracks. After the novelty's subsided, you find it becomes monotonous and tends to drag. There is virtually no variation in tempo at all, nor much creative and expansive thought in the song structures. You're three quarters through and it feels as if you've been listening to the same track over and over for hours on end.
A loada bolleaux. I might change my opinion. |

A big apology to each individual member of Beach House. This album is tha shiz. It's almost without flaw. Band with great potential. Please don't give up on it, after the 3rd spin it'll almost sound good.
