This band has been stuck in my head for the past week, and I'm loving it. They're a bit like Of Montreal, but with more electronic influence. Check out the songs Kids and Time To Pretend.

For the lazy: MGMT -Time to pretend They don't have a proper video for Kids so here's this instead: A bit of a warning, you won't be able to get them out of your head...for days.... ![]()

It's irritating that a band so uninteresting and derivitive as this garner a huge deal of attention whilst bands such as Metronomy who are genuinely making really interesting, dynamic music receive little if any recognition. Seriously, the only songs worth listening to on this blasted album are the singles - and even then they wear thin after a couple of listens. This isnt a dig at bantarians in particular, but music listeners in general.

It's The mars volta duo, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (guitarist in the last.fm thingy) and Cedric Bixler-Zavala (singer in avatar).

I like them. I'll be seeing them at bonnaroo this year. i love "time to pretend", "weekend wars", and "electric feel" which is really fun.
oh and i can see the of montreal comparison... they opened for them a while back. |
